Wilhelm commands and holds your interest, without gratuitous sex or violence in her novels. Her main character, Barbara Holloway, is a gutsy, intelligent, and articulate attorney. Wilhelm never fails to surround her with an equally interesting cast.
Desperate Measures is an excellent read that keeps you guessing and successfully weaves a double mystery plot. Enjoy!

A Wilhelm book is always a joy. Author could give Holloway a little more joy in her life. A good, satisfying read.
Anyone who likes Barbara Holloway mysteries...or loves the State of Oregon....will enjoy this book. I love the twists and turns her stories take and the unusual premises that she employs. This book, like all the others, takes the reader into an unfamiliar place...never run-of-the-mill. Even her relationship with her father is tested. An excellent read!
I really love this Barbara Holloway series. I always look forward to the next book. Wilhelm is a very good writer. I whole heartedly recommend this book.
All of Kate Wilhelm's Barbara Holloway novels are exciting, hard-to-put-down page turners, and this is no exception.
Kate Wilhelm is such a good writer, and this was hard to put down. Great characters, good dialogue with a very interesting story. She's always a joy to read.
Another great mystery by Kate Wilhelm. Barbara Holloway and her father Frank pursue the truth using all their deductive and reasoning skills as well as scientific and photographic recreation of the murder. The story is skillfully woven in and around the scenery, ambiance and weather of Eugene, Oregon and environs. A great read!
This book was selected by my book club based on positive reviews and the fact the book had won some awards. The majority of book club members agreed that this was not the calibre of book that we want to select for our book club. It was poorly written, had zero character development and a lame plot. At most it might be suitable for a "beach read," but i would not recommend spending any reading time on this book.
