The writing style has a great flow to it, I never felt there was a lull or that the author was just adding things to add them. She took full advantage of every word in this novella, building the scenes in a way that you were THERE.
I love Dawn. She’s no wilting flower and I respect that in a submissive character. So often the sub is written as a pushover who questions what she is doing internally ad nauseam … drives me batty. Dawn, she knows what she wants. What she needs. She owns it. FINALLY! And she’s hilarious to boot. I mean laugh out loud hilarious.
“You know your safe words?” I put as much menace into my words as I can.

Loved it. A nice quick read, awesome chemistry between the main characters that built up over the course of the story. Well written without being raunchy, a steamy intro to BDSM romance . Will definitely look for more from this author.

Loved the intensity and at the same time the playfulness of this story. The characters were engaging and believable. I will look for more stories from this author.
I have loved every single Cate book I've ever read. Obviously this is the first one, but I thought it was just so good. The characters felt real to me and even when they're submissive, they're strong inside. I don't know how I could describe that better, but it was a lovely read.
It is hard to find stories where the main character is a female that is quirky, spunky and stubborn yet pushes to be cornered, overpowered and forced to comply because that is what she truly wants, as long as it is with the right person. If that is what you have been looking for this is the best story I have found by far, so look no further. The banter between the main characters is humerous, sensual and exactly what you wanted to read, even if you didn't realize it beforehand. I want more.
Make Me was definitely steamy enough but I felt that there was little connective tissue between the actual story and the steam. I never felt any established trust or connection between the characters so their sceneing together did not feel true. I felt the strong lust between them, but I didn't get a good sense of why their feelings developed so quickly when they didn't know anything about each other. My neutral feelings are perhaps because I'm biased after reading so many books in the genre where the characters feel right today in their kink. I just didn't feel it in this one.
